Millhouses, Sheffield

A fabulous restoration of a stable block resulted in an unusually small amount of outdoor space for such a wonderful property.  The brief was to create a very low maintenance garden in this L shaped plot where the view from each room of the house was slightly different.

A couple of outdoor seating areas used for relaxing and entertaining guests are connected by narrow paths flanked by simple planting.  The ‘easy on the eye’ planting scheme gives the garden a calm and contemporary feel but uses species in keeping with the period of the property.

At the very end of the L shaped plot stood a modern focal point ‘The Stockton’ Click here for more information on this sculpture drawers the eye down to the end of the garden with the help of the simple lines of box and Lavender hedging.

A wonderfully relaxing space full of colour and scent that changes in part throughout the seasons.
