Aster x frikartii 'Mönch'

Description:

This Aster brings reliable and uplifting late season colour to the garden with its lavender blue daisy like flowers with yellow eyes continuing well into autumn. Great for pollinators, long flowering and mildew free, what's not to love! It is a greedy plant and enjoys an annual mulch and regular water supply in dry weather. Sometimes quite vigorous with ideal growing conditions, but usually a nice polite sized Aster that forms clumps mixing very well with ornamental grasses.

Aftercare: Water during dry spells and deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. After flowering has finished, leave the stem skeletons and seedheads over winter to provide visual interest and shelter for insects. Cut down to the ground when the plant has lost all structure, usually February. Apply a generous mulch of well rotted organic matter around the base after pruning in spring or in autumn.
