Phlomis russeliana

Description:
This plant has the appearance and use of a herbaceous perennial rather than its shrub classification. Sage like foliage and pale yellow whorls of flowers borne on tall spikes above a rosette of green leaves. It earns a worthy place in the border with attractive pollinator friendly flowers and interesting structure through the winter provided by evergreen leaves and tall unusual seedheads.  A tolerant plant that will grow in sun or partial shade so long as the soil is well drained. It looks fabulous combined with ornamental grasses and other perennials.
