Hand Reconditioning for existing borders
Description:
Standard Reconditioning – Suitable ONLY for existing planting areas with a 200-300mm depth of top soil.
Method:
Mechanical vegetation scrape 50-100mm deep and dispose from site. Using Glyphosate, spray off any regrowth if necessary, after ground has been left fallow for 2-4 weeks (only effective between April & September). Using an excavator with ripper tooth attachment, or fork over by hand to approx. 300mm depth of top soil. If using a ripper attachment, this can also be used to break up subsoil (in situ) to help improve drainage and lessen compaction. Incorporate mushroom compost at a rate of 1 barrow per m2 to recondition soil. Apply 50mm mulch layer of mushroom compost to the top of soil.Designer to approve soil preparation on site before planting begins
All areas to be planted to be free from soil pans, weeds, roots, stones, rubble, plaster and other debris or contaminants. Please take special care to remove brick and rubble from the topsoil ensuring that only remaining stones to pass a 40mm sieve.
