Charlotte Hobbs

Garden Designer

My name is Lottie, and I joined the design team as a Garden Designer in December 2025. I have a background in Interior Architecture and over ten years of experience as a commercial Interior Designer.

My love of nature began in childhood, helping my parents in the garden, and has grown steadily over the years. After becoming a mother during Covid, I found the garden, and what I could grow within it to be a deeply cathartic and healing space. This experience inspired me to shift my design career towards horticulture and garden design. At the same time, I had become increasingly aware of the sustainability challenges within commercial interiors, and I now find great joy in working with a natural palette that evolves over time and benefits both people and wildlife.

It’s hard to choose a favourite part of my role, but I particularly enjoy meeting clients, understanding what makes them tick and shaping spaces that truly reflect them and their homes. I also love working with planting design and exploring the subtle nuances of different species.

Outside of work, I’m usually with my two young children. We love spending time together in our garden and visiting open gardens. I’m also an avid reader, love yoga and enjoy crafting – I always have a project or two on the go.

If I weren’t a garden designer, I would have loved to become an author, printmaker, or upholsterer – ambitions I still hope to explore one day.

I’ve always loved the symbolism of the yew tree (Taxus baccata). It has the remarkable ability to regenerate itself, sending new life from its branches back into its core. Perhaps for this reason, it has long been associated with renewal and remembrance, often planted in churchyards to honour loved ones. It’s a detail I find particularly beautiful.
