Magnolia grandiflora

Description:
The evergreen magnolia is a striking tree/large shrub with huge leathery dark green leaves which a have a bronze velvety underside. Large creamy cupped flowers have a strong citrus fragrance and look quite exotic due to the size. It makes an excellent specimen tree for a sheltered garden and can be trained to grow vertically up a warm south or west facing wall or used in large planters. It is quite slow growing so if instant impact is required, a more mature specimen will be needed. This Magnolia is a great choice for smaller gardens as it responds well to a hard prune and can be kept small and bushy.
