The soil enhancements we're recommending for this area of your garden are

BioBore Targeted Soil Enrichment

BioBore is a technique we’ve developed to improve the health of either a compacted lawn or where a new border will be created under existing trees.  It also works well when used around existing trees to improve their health.  Perfect for both lawn and border amendments.

Avoid major tree roots and take care for electrical cables, it’s a good idea to use a CAT scanner to check for these first!

For Lawns:

Step 1.

At 300mm spacings, spray dots out in a grid pattern over the entire lawn or border to enhance.

Step 2.

Drill 300-600mm deep vertical  holes (20-50mm wide) into the border or lawn.

Step 3.

Insert a funnel into the hole and backfill with the following mixture:

30% biochar

20% Pre blended lawn top dressing

50% coarse sand/perlite/recycled crushed glass

Organic fertiliser such as bonemeal

Apply using a long funnel on a stick and a scoop which holds slightly more than the hole.

Brush the entire lawn to remove any excavated soil.

For Borders:

Step 1.

At approximately 300mm spacings, spray dots out in a grid pattern over the border to be enhanced.

Step 2.

Drill 300mm deep vertical holes (20-50mm wide) into the border.

Step 3.

Insert a funnel into the hole and backfill with the following mixture:

30% biochar

20% Pre blended Hallstone topsoil

50% coarse sand/perlite/recycled crushed glass

Organic fertiliser such as bonemeal

Apply using a long funnel on a stick and a scoop which holds slightly more than the hole.

Consider mulching the border prior to replanting with 50mm depth clean PAS100
