Suitable for use on uncontaminated land that has previously been laid to turf or planting.

Colour of product | Honey coloured Treated Timber (Commonly referred to as 'Green Tanalised Timber')

Size of bed | W1.3m x L2.5m

Installation notes

Remove any green waste. Note if perennial weeds are evident.

Supply and install a raised vegetable bed 1300mm wide 2500mm in length by 200mm high using new UC4 2.4m green tanalised softwood timber sleepers.

Secure into position using one new 75mm x 75mm x 380mm tanalised timber post in each corner using four Fastenmaster 150mm screws per post (screwed internally).

Postcrete 200mm of each post into the ground resulting in a level raised bed.

Base sleeper to be set on concrete strip footings to obtain a level bed.

Sleeper beds to be lined with a food safe Polyethylene liner (to sides only).

Soil preparation

Before being backfilled with soil, the base of the bed should be broken using a pick or mattock.

If perennial weeds were evident prior to construction, place a layer of brown cardboard (without packaging tape or print) over the entire base of the bed.

The exact soil and mulch specification & supplier to be confirmed by client/designer and will be dependent on the intended use of planting/crop within the bed.

Additional Useful Information

Do not use reclaimed sleepers as they may previously have been treated with substances which are unsafe.
