The soil preparation we're recommending for this area of your garden is

Soil preparation under trees

Hand Reconditioning –  under existing trees

Method:

Using hand loppers, a brush cutter or strimmer (depending on the growth to be removed) reduce the green waste to ground level and rake the area clean. Dispose of green waste (consider chipping and reusing as mulch on site if applicable or removing off site). Using a hand fork, aim to remove all roots from the weeds such as Ivy, Brambles etc and lightly fork over the area. Allow 2-3 weeks for regrowth (this will only occur April-September) and spray the area with Glyphosate. After 2 weeks sprinkle bonemeal (during the months of July-March only) or Blood, Fish and Bone (April-June only) at a rate of 115g psm and fork in lightly. Cover the entire area with a 100mm depth clean PASS100 and rake level.  The area can be planted after 3 months.

For an extra boost to the planting area and to increase the health of surrounding trees, why not also include our BioBore service – targeted soil enrichment

Client Notes:

Please note that the rate of growth and future health of the new plants will depend entirely on the quality/depth of the soil preparation.
