Soil preparation under trees

Contractor Specification:

Price includes clearance of ground unless allocated within site clearance under prelims.

Soil prep under trees – Use a brushcutter to reduce the green waste to ground level and rake the area clean. Dispose of green waste (off site). Using a hand fork, remove all roots from the weeds such as Ivy, Brambles etc and fork over the area. Allow 2-3 weeks for regrowth. Spray the area with Glyphosate (between March and October). After 2 weeks sprinkle bonemeal (during the months of July-March only) or Blood, Fish and Bone (April-June only) at a rate of 115g psm and fork in lightly. Cover the entire area with a mulch of 100mm depth, using composted green waste and rake level.

Designer to approve soil preparation on site before planting begins

Any newly imported soil required to make up levels should be Landscape 20 available from British Sugar Topsoil

Soil preparation will be subject to checks by the designers planting team.

Ensure all areas to be planted are free from soil pans, weeds, roots, stones, rubble, plaster and other debris or contaminants. Please take special care to remove brick and rubble from the topsoil ensuring that only remaining stones to pass a 40mm sieve, and stone content to be less than 10%
